The Palm Grove Museum is the only interpretation center of the palm tree in the world. The historic Elche palm grove allows you to enjoy it with greater intensity. For this purpose and after its declaration by Unesco as a World Heritage Site in 2000, the City Council decided to create the Museum and Interpretation Center of the Palm Grove.
The location is ideal: a traditional house of the nineteenth century, with two bodies joined by a covered wooden bridge, in the central orchard of San Plácido, very close to the Huerto del Cura garden and in the palm tree route. Surrounded, of course, by palm trees, whose history, uses and evolution are reflected in its rooms with the support of videos, panels, exhibition elements, touch screens and surround sounds.
Walk through the garden
The museum tour is complemented by the walk through the orchard, where the work of a palm tree is exhibited (from Tuesday to Friday in the morning, upon request) and in the workshop attached to the museum the braiding of the white palm is shown. There new artisans are prepared in this traditional work. The courses last seven months; the degree of higher education is reached after three years.
